Dihann Moore, a native washingtonian, has
been singing since the age of three.
She sang in school choirs--most
times as lead vocalist-- classical choirs, and gospel choirs.
As a teenager, she formed and led several community gospel groups
and sang classical and jazz with the DC youth chorale--an after
school program at the Duke Ellington High School for the Performing
Arts. Her vocal range balances between first alto and second
soprano.
At Howard University, where she attended college, she
minored in music and dance. After graduating, Dihann went on
to form several female R&B groups and a live band.
They performed
in some of the top venues in Washington DC. But, after futile
attempts to write originals with the group, she decided to go
solo.
Shortly after leaving the group, Dihann began to sing freelance
with some of the top r&b and jazz bands in Washington DC.
It was during one of her performances that she met the producers
of her hit single "Gimme Luv". The song was a vibe
dance trak that took her around the world!
She performed on "Top
of The Pops" in the UK.
Among the artists she performed
with that night were Mariah Carey, Diana Ross, and Sting.
She
also performed a 1 month tour across the UK performing this hit
song along with other songs that were to be released on her album.
After returning from the tour, Ms.Moore began to work with the
Fallout Shelter production company on her solo R&B/funk album.
As the project progressed, the producer suffered a major financial
setback and the company dissolved. Shortly after, the songstress
was called by King Street Records to work with producers from
Japan on a single for their album. This lead to the release of
her third dance trak and a Japanese tour.
Upon returning, Dihann
decided to move to New York city to further her career.
After
recording several other dance songs, and performing them in the
US and abroad, she began to miss the live element in her music.
This led to the formation of The Shegroovee Band which she currently
sings lead vocals for.
The band, consisting of some of NY’s
top musicians, performs jazz, r&b,
funk, top 40, pop and neosoul music depending on the venue.
Her
current musical endeavors include writing and producing a neosoul
/jazz/ funk album this coming year, performing in Dubai this
NY Eve, new dance traks, writing and producing for other artists,
and planning to tour abroad again in the spring.
"I need
to get out of the US regularly and see what the rest of the musical
world is doing!", Ms. Moore says.
On a final note, Dihann
feels that her greatest asset is the ability to sing several
styles of music well. "I was given a naturally versatile
voice and I want to use it to share my gift of music in every
way I can! I enjoy constantly discovering things about my voice
and my musical taste; after all, variety is the spice of life!"
