jazz singer & pianist
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina , it was there that Paula, after beginning her vocal studies as a teenager, discovered that jazz was “the most sensual music in the world” and found that this was the way she wanted to express herself.
After studying with various local jazz teachers, she moved to New York to take lessons in the Mannes Jazz School of Music and breath the atmosphere of the Manhattan jazzy clubs.
She has been living in Europe for the last 3 years, and her actual country of residence is in Barcelona, Spain.
Fluent in Spanish, English and French, she has sang in several places around the world for a few years now, in places such as: New York, Buenos Aires, Barcelona, and Fiords in Norway, and her venues include some of the finest hotels lobby bars, restaurants and casinos around the world. She has worked in many type of combos, from duos to big bands, including her own trio, and has made different kind of performances, from “lobby bar singer” to “singer entertainer” at luxurious pianobars.
Although her specialization is in jazz, she has successfully performed in other different styles, such as pop, rock & roll, bossa nova, R & B, soul, disco and latin music, offering a large repertory and different kinds of performances if required.
Paula also claims the classical jazz voices of Ella Fitzerald, Sarah Vaughan, Shirley Horn, etc. as her main influences, also thanks Dianne Reeves, George Benson, Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles for being such a great inspiration. Maybe it's because of that, that she sometimes likes to sing very known pop or soul songs in a jazzy way. So don’t be surprised if you hear from her a swinging version of “unchain my heart” or some smoothy Sade’s tune.
Finally, what you can expect is a performance as a tribute to the 50’s sophisticated atmosphere, in an actual but still very elegant mood. |
